We seek a female teacher to lead girls’ games, teach practical and theoretical PE across Key Stages 3–5 and act as Form Tutor from January 2027 during postholder’s maternity leave. You will run fixtures, support departmental administration and help pupils’ sporting development, including delivering OCR GCSE PE. (This post is open to female applicants only, as being a woman is an occupational requirement for the role under Schedule 9 Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.)
What you'll be doing
Teach engaging, well-planned practical and classroom PE lessons across KS3–5, including OCR GCSE PE theory and practical assessment.
Plan differentiated lessons and use assessment to secure progress and attainment.
Organise and run girls’ fixtures, clubs and match-day logistics; manage a fixtures programme.
Work with SEN and support staff to meet individual pupil needs and contribute to IEPs.
Keep accurate registers, assess work, report to parents and provide constructive feedback.
Act as a Form Tutor (Years 7–13): monitor attendance, behaviour and progress; lead form assemblies and Life Skills sessions and communicate with parents and staff.
Contribute to departmental administration, curriculum development, enrichment activities and trips.
Take part in supervisory rotas and cover as required.
What we're looking for
Essential
Good honours degree in a relevant subject and PGCE (or equivalent giving QTS).
Proven experience teaching practical and academic PE to GCSE level (OCR GCSE PE experience desirable).
Ability to coach Netball and/or Hockey and run girls’ games and fixtures programmes.
Strong classroom management, planning and assessment skills; effective differentiation.
Clear communicator with pupils, parents and colleagues and able to fulfil Form Tutor duties.
