Position Overview
We are seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated School Counsellor to join our dynamic team. You will have some responsibility for the whole school practices, but be a specialist in the area of Secondary counselling (Age 12-18). You will contribute and liaise frequently with inclusion, education and behaviour specialists. You will support families on a need’s basis, delivering appropriate intervention to children to support their wellbeing, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide short-term, solution-focused counselling for students experiencing emotional, social, behavioural, or mental health challenges.
- Support students with anxiety, peer and relationship issues, emotional regulation, identity development, low self-esteem, academic pressure, and exam-related stress.
- Maintain high-quality, professional communication within the school and with parents, demonstrating tact, discretion, and confidentiality when liaising with staff and external agencies.
- Facilitate and coordinate all counselling provision across the Secondary School, ensuring effective systems, record-keeping, and continuity of support.
- Ensure all school policies, safeguarding procedures, and professional standards are consistently implemented.
- Work collaboratively with the Secondary Inclusion Team, Heads of Year, and the Designated Safeguarding Lead to support student wellbeing, engagement, and progress.
