The Role· RGSPP is seeking an inspirational and experienced Head of English to lead a dynamic and ambitious department encompassing English, EAL and Drama, delivering programmes across English Language and English Literature at IGCSE and A Level.
· This is a strategic leadership role with a whole‑school impact. In addition to leading a core academic department, the Head of English will:
· Drive whole‑school literacy strategy, supporting staff to embed high‑impact reading, writing and communication practices across the curriculum.
· Lead on EAL‑inclusive pedagogy, identifying staff training needs and ensuring that teachers across all subjects are equipped to support multilingual learners effectively.
· Oversee and line‑manage the school libraries, ensuring collections, resources and reading spaces are aligned with student needs, curriculum demands and international best practice.
· The successful candidate will:
· Lead and develop a high‑performing team across English, EAL and Drama.
· Shape a compelling English curriculum from Primary to Sixth Form, with strong progression and outcomes.
· Ensure rigorous assessment, tracking and intervention systems.
· Promote a rich culture of reading, communication, performance and creativity across the school.
