About this role
The Downs Malvern is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic temporary Sports Coach. This role is temporary for 12 months, starting in September 2026.
Working with the Director of Sport, professional coaches and teaching staff, you will support and lead sport for pupils in Years 3 – 8, particularly boys sport in Years 7 and 8. An ability to coach, rugby, alongside hockey and/or football/cricket, would be advantageous, although candidates with experience in other sports are also encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will:
Deliver high quality coaching in curriculum and co-curricular sport
Support fixtures, tournaments, sports tours and departmental events
Encourage participation, teamwork and sportsmanship
Assist with the development of talented athletes through the school’s performance pathway
Promote health, fitness and a lifelong enjoyment of sport
Contribute to the wider life of the school and work alongside an academic department as part of their professional development
You will have:
Coaching qualifications in one or more sports
Good personal playing experience
Strong communication and organisational skills
Good ICT skills
A passion for sport and physical activity
A proactive, flexible and positive approach
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
The expected weekly hours and likely days/times:
Monday 3.10 pm – 4.10 pm
Friday 3.10 pm – 4.10 pm
Wednesday 12.30 pm – 5.30 pm for away matches, 1.45 pm – 4.15 pm for home matches (possibly longer in the Cricket term)
Saturday 12.30 pm – 5.30 pm for away matches, 12.30 pm – 4.15 pm home matches
Additional information:
You would likely be responsible for a team for Wednesday and Saturday matches
INSET in September is 1 and 2 September 2026. You would be expected to attend part of this (to include safeguarding)
