Kelem International School (KIS) is a Pre-KG to Grade 9 institution with a rich 80-year history as a Scandinavian school in Addis Ababa. Today, KIS operates as an independent, not-for-profit international school. Job Summary
The Teaching Assistant provides support to the lead classroom teacher by reinforcing lesson concepts through working with individual students or small groups, inputting into lesson plans, documenting progress, and overseeing lesson preparations.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Supporting Instruction: Support children individually or in small groups to help them master skills; support the classroom teacher in maintaining effective rules, routines, and behavior management.
Planning & Organization: Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts; set up and tidy away lesson materials; organize and display student work.
Effective Communication: Handle all matters relating to children, parents, and staff in a professional and confidential manner.
Professional Responsibilities: Participate in professional development; assist with supervision duties (including field trips); and maintain strict punctuality.
Job Requirements
Education: B.Ed. / BA / BSc degree in the major content taught, along with pedagogy and teacher training.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching/teaching assistant experience, preferably in an international or community school.
Working Hours: Monday – Thursday (7:30 AM – 4:30 PM) and Fridays (7:30 AM – 3:30 PM).
