About this role
Leading creativity across Years 1–8
Banana Island International School | Lagos, Nigeria
Start date: September 2026
Great schools don't teach creativity.
They create the conditions in which it flourishes.
At Banana Island International School, we believe creativity is not confined to the Art room. It belongs wherever children are thinking, questioning, designing, making and solving problems. It belongs in science, persuasive writing, architecture, engineering, sustainability, technology and the everyday life of the School.
That is why Art & Design occupies such an important place at BIIS.
The Opportunity
As BIIS enters an exciting new phase of growth, including the development of our Green Learning Hub, we are seeking an exceptional Art & Design Lead to inspire creativity across Years 1–8.
This is much more than a subject leadership role. We are looking for someone who will champion creativity across the curriculum, inspire colleagues, lead our annual whole-school Art Week and Exhibition and help children discover that great ideas often emerge where art, design, science and technology meet.
Creativity Across the Curriculum
We believe children should experience creativity everywhere.
Designing persuasive campaign posters in English.
Producing botanical illustrations in Science.
Sketching architectural ideas inspired by the Green Learning Hub.
Creating models.
Exhibiting their work.
Learning that imagination, craftsmanship and curiosity belong in every classroom.
The Green Learning Hub
Our Green Learning Hub will become an extraordinary teaching resource. We want children exploring architecture, sustainable design, materials, product design and visual communication. We are looking for someone excited by the opportunity to help shape how creativity is woven through this next chapter of BIIS.
We are looking for someone who:
is an outstanding teacher of Art & Design
believes creativity should influence every subject
can inspire colleagues as well as pupils
enjoys leading
