The Post
Due to our expansion and growth in the secondary phase of the school, applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals who are passionate and forward thinking and who will thrive in the vibrant learning environment of Hartland. By being ambitious, not only for students but for yourself, you will help us build and maintain a successful programme of study in Science by sharing in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care. The successful candidate will also be expected to make a contribution to our unique and strong enrichment programme which ensures that learning and opportunity are diverse for all.
Science is taught at all Key Stages: Years 7 to 9 follow a course based on the Science National Curriculum using materials adapted for each pupil. At GCSE students follow the AQA Combined Science Trilogy specification or can opt to study Separate Sciences in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, again with AQA. All three science subjects are offered at A Level, again following the AQA specification. The science department had great success last year with 97% of students achieving above a grade 4 across all three sciences.
