Teacher of Music or Drama (Maternity Cover) North Durham Academy MPS-UPS To start September 2026 North Durham Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and inspiring Teacher of Music/Drama to join our successful department on a maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to deliver high-quality teaching and make a real difference to students’ learning and progress. We welcome applications from teachers with experience in Music, Drama or Dance, with no specific specialism required. The successful candidate will teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, fostering a love of the creative arts and supporting students to achieve their full potential. The role will involve planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that are appropriately differentiated to meet the needs of all learners. You will monitor and assess student progress using a range of strategies, providing clear and constructive feedback to support improvement. Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, you will create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel motivated and supported. You will also contribute to the development of schemes of work and curriculum planning, working closely with colleagues to ensure a high-quality learning experience. As a member of staff, you will play an important role in the wider life of the school. This includes acting as a tutor, supporting students’ personal development, and serving as a positive role model who promotes high standards of attendance, punctuality and behaviour. You will be expected to build strong professional relationships with colleagues, parents and carers, and to contribute to school events and enrichment activities. We are looking for a candidate who holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Music or a related subject, with experience of teaching Music at Key Stage 4.
