About the Department
The Ormesby Humanities Department is a welcoming and sociable department of staff, including both Geographers and Historians, who are all extremely passionate about their subject specialisms. Our department is well respected within the Academy and is located centrally, with all classrooms close together. All classrooms are resourced with interactive whiteboards, visualisers and ample storage, which will enable you to teach in a variety of ways. In addition to this, we share a small workroom with several computers, fridge, kettle and nearly always a selection of snacks! And if snacks and a fridge aren’t what you are looking for, we also have a range of teaching and learning books to support professional development, as well as a selection of subject books and subscriptions to professional organisations.
Wellbeing and management of workload are priorities for the department, and we work collaboratively whenever possible and often share resources and planning. We all want the best for our students, and by sharing expertise and best practices, we believe we can achieve this. We support each other whenever we can, which includes support with planning, marking and sometimes even teaching. As a team, we share the view that whilst our job is often challenging, we do it because it is hard and because of the positive impact we have on our amazing students day in, day out.
