MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Ensure all school safeguarding procedures are adhered to.
To plan and teach Design & Technology across key stages 3, 4 and 5 and challenge students to achieve at the very highest level.
Be an enthusiastic advocate for Design & Technology and its role in education.
Develop strong, collaborative relationships within the Design & Technology department.
RESPONSIBILIITES AND DUTIES:
Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance and conduct.
Develop positive and courteous relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
Plan and deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons that inspire students and support excellent progress across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
Support students in developing their understanding of the design process, including research, analysis, ideation, modelling, prototyping, testing, evaluation and iterative development.
Contribute to the teaching of specialist Design & Technology areas, which may include Product Design, Engineering, Textiles, Food Preparation and Nutrition, CAD/CAM, electronics, depending on experience.
Ensure that schemes of work are followed, reviewed and developed to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Keep up to date with developments in Design & Technology, including new materials, emerging technologies, sustainability, industry practice and curriculum developments, ensuring best practice is adopted within the department.
Promote safe working practice within all Design & Technology learning spaces, including workshops, food rooms, textiles spaces and CAD/CAM areas.
Support the maintenance of a safe, organised and purposeful learning environment, including the appropriate use, care and storage of tools, equipment and materials.
Ensure that individual pupil progress is regularly assessed, recorded and used to inform future teaching.
