About this role

Burgess Hill Girls is seeking an inspiring and committed Subject Leader to lead our Art & Textiles provision. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and ambitious teacher who can drive excellence in teaching, learning and curriculum development within the subject. We are looking for someone who is passionate about their subject, committed to fostering creativity and ambition in students, and able to lead a team to secure strong outcomes. As Subject Leader, you will: Provide clear leadership and direction for the subject, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all relevant key stages Lead and line manage subject staff, supporting their professional development, performance and wellbeing Oversee curriculum design, sequencing and implementation, ensuring a broad, balanced and engaging programme of study Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning within the subject, using lesson visits, work scrutiny and student voice Lead assessment, data analysis and intervention, ensuring strong progress and attainment for all students Establish consistent approaches to feedback, assessment and classroom practice across the subject Identify priorities for development and implement improvement strategies, demonstrating measurable impact on outcomes Contribute to the school’s quality assurance processes, including reporting on subject performance Manage subject resources, including budget, equipment and health and safety requirements Promote the subject through enrichment opportunities, exhibitions and events, and contribute to open evenings and outreach Teach a timetable within the subject and model excellent classroom practice You will have: Qualified Teacher Status and strong subject expertise (Art, Textiles or relevant discipline) A proven track record of excellent teaching and securing strong student outcomes Experience of contributing to curriculum development and assessment practices The ability to lead, motivate and support colleagues ef
