SITE & ESTATES MANAGER
Salary: Up to £36,000 depending on experience
Responsible to: Health & Safety Compliance Manager
Working with: Health & Safety Compliance Manager, Senior Leadership Team, School Staff and External Contractors
Hours: Full-time, all-year-round (37.5 hours per week). Flexibility is required to support occasional evening and weekend events, emergencies and school operational requirements.
Purpose of the Role
Thorpe House School is seeking a proactive, practical and solutions-focused Site & Estates
Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation, maintenance and presentation of
our school estate.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in maintaining high standards and is motivated by seeing a job completed properly.
Working alongside our Health & Safety Compliance Manager, who leads on statutory compliance, inspections and Health & Safety, you will focus on ensuring the school site remains safe, secure, well-maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
We're looking for someone who doesn't wait to be asked. Someone who notices problems, takes ownership and gets things done.
Ideal for someone with a trade background (carpentry, plumbing, decorating or general building
maintenance) who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Maintenance & Repairs
● Carry out general maintenance and repair work across the school site.
● Undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, painting and general DIY repairs.
● Complete planned preventative maintenance to reduce future repairs.
● Respond promptly to maintenance requests, prioritising work according to operational need.
● Identify defects and resolve issues before they become larger maintenance problems.
● Escalate specialist repairs to the Health & Safety Compliance Manager where appropriate.

● Maintain the school buildings and grounds to a consistently high standard.
