Shop Assistant

Millfield Prep School is seeking a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Shop Assistant to join our busy School Shop team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive school community and play an important role in providing a high-quality service to pupils, parents, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the shop while maintaining the welcoming and professional standards for which Millfield is known. Working closely with the Retail Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of the shop’s operation, including serving customers, processing sales, receiving and displaying stock, maintaining stock levels and assisting with stock checks and stock takes. You will also support uniform fittings and kit-outs for pupils, manage lost property items and help process stationery orders for the school. The role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues and suppliers. We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Previous retail or customer service experience would be advantageous, although full training will be provided. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience are essential. The normal working hours for this position are 7.45am to 1.15pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, together with 7.45am to 12.15pm for 10 Saturdays during term time. In addition, you will be required to work a further 110.25 hours during non-term time on a rota basis. The salary for this role is £10,189.50 per annum.
