About this role
WHOLE-SCHOOL SENCO
Banana Island International School | Lagos, Nigeria
Start date: September 2026
Help shape inclusive education across a growing international School.
Banana Island International School is growing rapidly. As we expand our educational provision and embark upon an ambitious new phase of development, we are seeking an outstanding Whole-School SENCO to lead and strengthen SEND provision from EYFS to Year 8.
This is an opportunity for an experienced SENCO, SEND specialist or exceptional practitioner ready for greater whole-school responsibility to make a genuine and lasting difference.
We are looking for someone who believes passionately that every child should be understood, supported and given the opportunity to thrive — someone who can think strategically but is equally willing to work directly with children, teachers and families.
THE OPPORTUNITY
At BIIS, children are known as individuals. Our belief in being a happy school with high expectations means recognising that children have different strengths and needs and sometimes require different kinds of support to fulfil their potential.
As our School grows, we want to strengthen our SEND provision and develop a coherent, ambitious and inclusive approach across all phases. The successful candidate will have genuine responsibility for shaping that development.
You will lead the identification, assessment and support of pupils with additional needs, strengthen systems and interventions and work closely with teachers to ensure that inclusive practice is embedded in excellent classroom teaching.
This is not a purely administrative or strategic role. You will know our children, work directly with pupils, support and challenge teachers, build trusting relationships with families and help create a School in which responsibility for meeting the needs of every learner is genuinely shared.
INCLUSION IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY
We do not believe that children with additional needs should simply be handed over
