About this roleThis is a whole-school leadership role responsible for coordinating provision for students with additional needs across Primary and Secondary. The SENCO works closely with students, staff, and families to ensure inclusive practice, effective interventions, and high-quality support that enables all students to thrive academically and socially.
Key responsibilitiesLead and coordinate whole-school SEND provision, ensuring a consistent and inclusive approach
Identify, assess, and support students with a range of additional needs
Oversee and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions
Support teachers in delivering high-quality inclusive teaching and differentiation
Monitor student progress and use data to inform interventions and next steps
Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and parents
Manage and coordinate Learning Support Assistants and/or shadow teachers
Liaise with external professionals where appropriate (e.g. educational psychologists, therapists)
Contribute to safeguarding procedures and student wellbeing
Deliver staff training and support the development of inclusive practice across the school
RequirementsPGCE or recognised teaching qualification from home country
Evidence of training or certification related to Special Educational Needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SPLD)
Strong understanding of inclusive teaching and SEND provision
Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice or equivalent frameworks
Understanding of assessment tools and interventions for SEND
Knowledge of EAL strate
