About this role

The role of the Science Technician is to help facilitate the delivery of the School’s science curriculum and thus enhance students’ learning. Principle activities are supporting teaching staff in practical work, preparing, clearing and cleaning lesson materials. Our science technicians work as a team, and their duties may extend beyond their primary subject area as and when the need arises. From time to time, technicians might be asked to provide assistance in other areas of the school, as and when their science duties allow. We therefore strive to assist students in developing these skills whilst acquiring the required subject content. Essential Criteria A good standard of general education. Qualifications in science at GCSE or A Level (or above). Some knowledge of safe working practices in relation to the handling, preparation, and usage of scientific apparatus and equipment. Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner. Ability to carry out risk assessments in relation to laboratory work.
