General Responsibilities
The School Counselor at One International School is responsible to provide comprehensive counseling services to support children's social and emotional development. This role involves individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and collaboration with teachers and parents to create a positive school environment.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Counseling Services
Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social, and emotional issues.
Conduct assessments to identify student needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
Facilitate conflict resolution and peer mediation to promote positive relationships.
Example: If a student is struggling emotionally, set up a one-on-one session to listen to their concerns. Use role-playing with groups to help students practice conflict resolution.
2. Assessments
Conduct assessments to identify social, emotional, or behavioral issues that may impact learning.
Identify learning barriers (e.g., attention difficulties, learning disabilities) that affect student performance.
Use standardized behavioral assessment tools or observational methods to understand issues such as anxiety, peer interactions, or adjustment difficulties.
Develop and implement behavior intervention plans based on assessment results.
Example: After meeting a student, assess their needs through observation, talking to their teachers, and using available psychological assessments to identify areas for improvement.
3. Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with teachers, academic interventionists, parents, and staff to create a supportive learning environment.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and well-being.
Participate in school-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing student support services.
