Pastoral & Behaviour Support Practitioner (HLTA - ELSA Focused)
Salary: Scale 5 (£23,839.13 - £25,264.13 – dependant on experience)
Hours: 31.25 - 8:30am to 3.30pm – Monday to Friday – 39 weeks per year

We are seeking to appoint a Scale 5 HLTA to lead and develop our pastoral and ELSA provision .
This post forms part of a strategic staffing restructure, enabling the school to strengthen emotional wellbeing and nurture provision while ensuring continuity of classroom support.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and nurturing practitioner to:
Lead and deliver ELSA interventions (1:1 and small group)
Support pupils with SEMH, emotional regulation and behaviour needs
Develop and strengthen our nurture provision
Provide HLTA classroom cover when required
Promote inclusion, wellbeing and positive behaviour for learning
The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO, Mental Health Lead and Senior Leadership Team to ensure high-quality pastoral support across the school.
Key Responsibilities
Pastoral & ELSA
Deliver targeted ELSA programmes within the nurture room
Support pupils experiencing emotional or behavioural barriers to learning
Provide structured emotional literacy and regulation sessions
Monitor, record and evaluate intervention impact
Support pupils during key transition points (arrival, break times, reintegration)
Behaviour & Inclusion
Model relational, restorative approaches
Promote positive behaviour strategies aligned with school policy
Work proactively to support emotional readiness for learning
HLTA & Classroom Cover
Provide short-term and planned classroom cover
Deliver pre-prepared lessons maintaining high expectations
Adapt learning to meet SEND and SEMH needs
Ensure calm, purposeful learning environments
