About this role
We are recruiting for a part-time Teacher of Politics and Sociology (0.6 FTE) to join our excellent Social Sciences faculty from September 2026.
East Barnet School (EBS) is a large, thriving, over-subscribed and diverse North London school where a belief in growth mindset underpins all aspects of school life. EBS is a supportive, creative and close-knit community where student behaviour is excellent and staff retention is high. An emphasis on both academic and pastoral support for staff and students has helped to shape our clearly defined culture and ethos which promotes wellbeing as well as success.
Integral to the school’s success is the adoption of innovative strategies to drive improvement, for example, the implementation of Disruption Free Learning to ensure a calm and orderly learning environment, which is frequently remarked upon by visitors.
We welcome applications for this role from those who are at the start of their teaching career and are proud of our well-established ECT programme, which the North West London Teaching School Hub (NWLTSH) Appropriate Body describes as 'outstanding induction provision', commending the 'commitment and professionalism of those involved with the induction of the ECTs, especially the Induction Lead, who has worked tirelessly to ensure that all the ECTs have the very best start to their career.' The latest report, following an inspection visit in November 2024 states that 'the ECTs rated their induction experience as excellent as they are very well supported by all members of staff, in particular their Mentors and the Induction Lead. They feel that the programme of support is very well structured and that all the requirements have a purpose. The ECTs shared how lucky they felt to be part of East Barnet School as their experiences to date have been rich and varied.'
