Introduction
Some young people need qualifications. Others need confidence, independence and the skills to navigate everyday life.
Our Achieve Lifeskills programme is designed for young people aged 16–24 with EHCPs who need support developing the practical, personal and emotional skills that help them move towards adulthood. From managing money and maintaining wellbeing to building confidence and preparing for future opportunities, the programme helps young people develop the skills that make everyday life feel more possible.
We're looking for an Achieve Lifeskills Tutor to join our Reading team. This role combines the delivery of Functional Skills English and Maths with supporting learners on the Achieve programme to develop confidence, independence and preparation for adulthood skills. Whilst the Lead Tutor takes responsibility for much of the Achieve curriculum, you'll play a key role in helping learners make progress in Functional Skills and apply those skills in meaningful, real-life contexts.
Many of the learners on the programme have SEND and SEMH needs, so we're looking for someone who can build positive relationships, maintain high expectations and adapt learning to meet individual needs. You'll need to be confident teaching, tracking progress and helping learners overcome barriers to learning whilst creating an environment where they feel safe enough to take part.
Above all, we're looking for somebody who understands that success can look different for every learner and who enjoys helping young people achieve things they didn't think were possible.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills English and Maths sessions at Entry Level and Level 1.
