The Role:
Are you passionate about empowering learners, curating outstanding collections, and shaping the future of library services in FE? We’re looking for a proactive, creative and student‑focused Librarian to join our Learning Resources team and play a key role in delivering an exceptional experience for our diverse community.
The Librarian plays a central part in supporting learners and staff across the College’s Learning Resources Centres (LRCs).
You will:
· Provide expert support to learners and staff across designated campuses
· Oversee collection management, ensuring our resources meet the needs of each curriculum area
· Help create welcoming, inclusive, safe, and dynamic learning environments
· Deliver engaging information and digital literacy sessions and 1‑2‑1 support
· Contribute to college-wide projects, events, and continuous service improvement
· Act as a key point of responsibility for day-to-day operations in the LRC when required
This is a varied, hands‑on role where no two days look the same—perfect for someone who loves people, problem‑solving, and the transformative power of libraries.
Key Responsibilities:
Frontline Study Support
Deliver outstanding customer service at enquiry and IT support desks
Guide students in accessing print and digital resources
Support learners with disabilities or additional needs
Maintain positive study environments and help manage student behaviour
Promote engagement through inductions, workshops, and events
Collection & Resource Management
Oversee stock selection, acquisition, cataloguing, classification and weeding
Analyse LMS data to shape a well‑used, relevant and cost‑effective collection
Collaborate with curriculum teams to ensure holdings reflect course requirements
Support the development of consistent cataloguing standards across the group
Digital & Information Literacy
Deliver group workshops, online sessions and individual support
Produce engaging learning materials, VLE content, and guides
