Learning Support Assistant

Salary: H3 Point 5-6 Closing Date: 6th July 2026 This is a role for someone who will provide calm, practical and targeted classroom and one-to-one support that helps students with special educational needs access learning, make progress and feel included. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to deliver EHCP strategies, run small-group literacy/numeracy sessions and build trusting relationships with students so they can fulfil their potential. The post is based at Goffs‑Churchgate Academy and starts September 2026. What you'll be doing Provide individual and small-group support in lessons and out of class, including literacy and numeracy programmes. Deliver personalised learning activities and one-to-one sessions drawn from EHCPs, and track impact over time. Work alongside subject teachers to plan and prepare appropriate materials and adapt resources to student needs. Build supportive relationships that encourage inclusion and positive behaviour; apply strategies to manage and modify behaviour as needed. Contribute to HCP/EHCP reviews and share observations with the SENCO and teaching staff. Attend staff meetings, training and academy INSET; undertake other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager, which may occasionally include out-of-hours work. What we're looking for Experience of working in a similar school or support setting with children and young people. Practical experience of approaches to modify behaviour and support learning for students with SEN. Good standard of education and strong written and spoken communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, maintain confidentiality and prioritise tasks under pressure. A commitment to the safety, welfare and inclusion of children and young people. Desirable Experience running targeted literacy or numeracy interventions. Experience contributing to EHCP implementation and reviews.
