About this role
This is a rare opportunity to take full leadership of a new specialist school at a pivotal moment.
Angel Meadow School is an independent special school for pupils aged 11–16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), opening in 2026.
The school has been designed as a small, high-support setting for pupils with a range of SEND needs, including autism, ADHD and moderate learning difficulties.
Following its opening phase, we are seeking a Headteacher to take full leadership of the school from September 2026 and drive it forward into its next stage of development.
The Opportunity
This is not a standard Headteacher role.
You will be taking over a newly established school with:
A clear vision and structure already in place
A small cohort of pupils
A committed and carefully selected staff team
The opportunity to shape systems, culture and quality from an early stage
You will have the autonomy to lead the school day-to-day, with the support of the Directors, and a clear focus on delivering a strong first Ofsted outcome.
Your Role
You will:
Take full responsibility for the leadership and management of the school
Drive high-quality teaching and learning across the provision
Lead, develop and support staff to deliver consistently strong practice
Ensure all safeguarding, compliance and independent school standards are met
Oversee curriculum implementation for a small, specialist setting
Maintain a calm, structured and purposeful school environment
Lead on behaviour, culture and expectations
Work closely with the Directors and Executive Headteacher on strategic development
What Makes This Role Different
Small school - capacity of 25 pupils
High staff-to-pupil ratios
A clear focus on quality over scale
The opportunity to build something with real impact
A setting designed to allow strong teaching and learning to thrive
Direct influence on the school’s first Ofsted outcome
