This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded finance professional to join Pennthorpe School as Head of Finance and Operations
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the school's financial strategy and day-to-day operations, overseeing finance, estates, facilities, compliance, IT infrastructure, and outsourced services. Working closely with the Head and the Group Chief Financial Officer, you will provide strategic advice, ensure robust financial management and governance, and help deliver the school's long-term vision.
The Head of Finance and Operations reports to the Head and the Group CFO and also serves as Company Secretary and Clerk to the Governors, providing expert financial and operational guidance to the Governing Body
The Successful Candidate:
Qualifications & Experience
Part-qualified accounting qualification, or qualified by experience
Experience working within the education sector
Strong financial management experience
Proven experience in effective working capital management
Strategic leadership experience
Skills & Personal Attributes
Strong interpersonal skills, with energy, adaptability, and flexibility
A collaborative team player, able to contribute effectively as a member of the Senior Leadership Team

The Role:
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Strategy
Lead the day-to-day financial management of the school.
Support the Group CFO with financial strategy, regulatory compliance, risk management, and financial systems.
Prepare budgets, multi-year forecasts, and financial plans.
Financial Reporting & Control
Produce monthly management accounts and statutory financial reports.
Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial controls.
Coordinate annual audits and ensure compliance with Charities SORP.
Accounts, Payroll
