The English Curriculum Leader is responsible for making clear and effective decisions about planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum including assessments, and extra-curricular activities; leading and managing Mentors and organizing department resources. Lead Teachers have overall responsibility for the standard of learners’ work, outcomes, and behaviour in the department. There will be a teaching responsibility and modelling best practice to colleagues will be an important element of the role. Working in partnership with the EAL Leader to ensure EAL is interwoven through the English curriculum is a key facet to the role.
Key responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
· Construct and oversee schemes of work, through an inquiry-based approach, in the Faculty which satisfy statutory requirements and are compatible with the school’s aims, policies, and ethos.
· Provide coordination, management and supervision of long-term, medium-term and day-to-day curriculum planning, delivery and operations across the school.
· Ensure that a high-quality curriculum meets the needs of learners of all abilities.
· Ensure that schemes of work are differentiated to meet the needs of individual learners.
