Key purpose:
The Director of Estates and Operations is a key strategic leadership role responsible for ensuring that The Hammond School provides an outstanding, safe, compliant and inspiring environment in which students and staff can thrive.
The postholder will lead the strategic development, operational management and continuous improvement of the school's estate and operational services, ensuring that all facilities, infrastructure and support functions are delivered efficiently, sustainably and in line with the school's ambitious vision.
Working closely with the Principal, Head of Finance, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors, the Director will develop and implement long-term estates and operational strategies, ensuring that the school makes the best possible use of its resources while supporting future growth and income generation.
The role has overall responsibility for:
· Leading the strategic management, maintenance and development of the school estate, ensuring buildings and facilities remain safe, compliant, attractive and fit for purpose.
· Providing executive leadership for Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Risk Management and statutory compliance, ensuring the school meets all legislative, regulatory and Independent School Standards requirements.
· Developing and overseeing robust systems for risk assessment, business continuity planning, emergency preparedness and environmental management.
· Leading on contract procurement and management, working alongside the Facilities Manager and external providers to deliver high-quality services across estates maintenance, catering, cleaning, waste management, recycling, security and other operational functions.
· Planning and delivering capital projects, refurbishment programmes and estate improvements from concept through to completion, ensuring value for money and minimal disruption to school operations.
