As a Matron, you will play a central role in safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of our boarders, ensuring they feel safe, supported and happy throughout their time at school. You will build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues, providing outstanding pastoral care and helping pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience.
Working closely with the Head of Boarding, School Nursing Team and wider boarding staff, you will contribute to creating a nurturing and inclusive boarding environment where pupils can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide high-quality pastoral care and support to pupils within the boarding house.
Ensure the safety, wellbeing and happiness of boarders at all times.
Monitor and support pupils' physical and emotional welfare, working closely with the School Nursing Team where required.
Help pupils develop independence, personal organisation and responsibility.
Maintain a welcoming, comfortable and well-presented boarding environment.
Oversee pupil permissions, appointments and authorised absences.
Support the delivery of an engaging weekend activities programme.
Foster a positive boarding culture built on kindness, respect and mutual support.
Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and colleagues on boarding and welfare matters.
Support the implementation of school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour management.
Assist with the preparation of boarding accommodation at the beginning and end of terms.
Attend relevant meetings, training and professional development activities.
