Class Teacher - Science Lead (Maternity Cover)

LIAISON WITH PARENTS: Effective communication with parents/carers and associated departments is a vital part of this role. To take reasonable steps to maintain cordial relations with members of the parent body, responding to requests for information and assistance. Attend Parent Consultation evenings and other afterschool events to feedback, progress, targets and planned curriculum coverage/topics with pupils’ parents PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: To take up the opportunity for continuous professional development through self-directed reading, courses and in-service training and maintain a good level of the latest teaching practices and use of technology. To take part in the school arrangements for staff performance review, to complete the required documentation and seek to fulfil individual targets agreed as part of the appraisal and performance management system. MIDDLE LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: To take responsibility for planning, implementing and assessing an appropriate programme of study for Science, ensuring there are plenty of opportunities for children to complete practical tasks to experience ‘hands-on’ learning, rather than completing worksheets. Science should be inquisitive with children inspired to find out and test their understanding and ideas wherever possible. Exploring different ways of delivering a thorough and comprehensive Science curriculum, linking with STEM workshops, British Science week and other element
