Novalis Trust is a charity that supports children and adults with Neurodevelopmental Difficulties and other learning needs. Cotswold Chine School is a trauma-informed residential school for children aged 7 – 19 and the Lunchbox Café is based on site.
This is an exciting opportunity for a practical hands-on enthusiastic candidate. The successful candidate will have the unusual opportunity to support the running of a local charitable café as the ‘9th classroom’ of Cotswold Chine School.
The school’s Lunch Box Café is designed to teach children through practical work experience to develop social skills, practical food preparation, hygiene and nutrition skills to prepare them for adulthood and employment.
Responsibilities for this role:
The candidate would join a supportive team of two food technology teachers and dedicated cafe teaching assistants. They will also benefit from a wider team assisting in engaging pupils with work related experience in the café.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth running of all operational aspects of the café year-round.
Ensuring consistently good service is provided to customers through good front of house customer service skills.
Ensuring the food offered is to a consistently high standard.
Supporting back of house management, through good organisation and ordering stock from local suppliers.
They will take on the sole responsibility of running the café in the teacher’s absence (primarily school holidays when the café will not be running at full capacity) with the support of the Youth Support and Clinical Therapy teams.
Role modelling to pupils a good work ethic, communication skills and professionalism.
