Attendance and Welfare Support

We are looking for a caring, reliable and proactive Attendance & Welfare Assistant/Minibus Driver to join our secondary school and play an important role in supporting the attendance, welfare and safety of our students.

This is a varied and rewarding role (please see addendum attached), combining attendance and student welfare responsibilities with the duties of a Minibus Driver. You will work closely with students, families and school staff to promote excellent attendance, provide pastoral support and help ensure our students are safe, happy and able to access their education.

As part of the role, you will:

• Monitor and support student attendance, following up absences and lateness where required.
• Work with students and families to encourage positive attendance and punctuality.
• Provide day-to-day welfare and pastoral support to students.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students, identifying concerns and escalating safeguarding or welfare issues appropriately.
• Support the school with attendance and welfare administration and record keeping.
• Drive the school minibus safely and responsibly, transporting students and staff as required.
• Complete relevant vehicle checks and ensure the minibus is maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition.
• Support with school trips, activities and other transport requirements.
• Promote and maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour and student welfare at all times.

We are looking for someone who is approachable, organised, dependable and confident working with young people. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a calm and professional approach and the ability to deal sensitively with attendance and welfare matters.

Previous experience of working within a school or with young people would be desirable, alongside appropriate experience or qualifications to undertake minibus driving duties.

Actual Salary: £22,653 - £23,756 
Working hours: 37 hours – 07.30am -15.30pm - Term Time Only + 5 Days
