About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and highly motivated Assistant Headteacher with Qualified Teacher Status to lead and further develop one of our specialist Learning Centre sites. The provision supports pupils with a range of complex SEND needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, social communication difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.
This is a pivotal leadership role suited to an individual with a strong background in inclusive education, proven experience in leading and managing staff teams, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for some of our most vulnerable learners. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping a nurturing, ambitious, and therapeutic learning environment where barriers to learning are identified, understood, and overcome.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive improvements in curriculum delivery, teaching and learning, and outcomes for pupils with complex SEND needs.
Support the embedding of inclusive practices, routines, and high expectations across the Learning Centre.
Work closely with the Behaviour and inclusion lead to remove barriers to learning and promote pupil wellbeing and engagement.
Manage and support a small, dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Promote effective behaviour support strategies that are sensitive to pupils’ SEMH needs and rooted in trauma-informed practice.
Work collaboratively with the Headteacher to align the Learning Centre’s work with the wider school vision and priorities.
Contribute to the professional development of staff, offering coaching, mentoring, and guidance as needed.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of provision, using data to inform planning and improve outcomes.
