About the Role

As Assistant Head of English, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Faculty to drive excellence in teaching, learning and student achievement across the English department. Working within a collaborative and ambitious team, you will help lead curriculum development, quality assurance and continuous improvement, ensuring that all students receive a high-quality and inclusive educational experience. You will use data effectively to monitor progress, identify underachievement and implement strategies that raise standards and outcomes for all learners.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner who is passionate about English and committed to developing both students and colleagues. You will contribute to faculty leadership, support professional development, mentor staff and trainees, and help shape a culture of high expectations, innovation and shared best practice. The role offers the chance to make a significant impact on whole-school improvement while helping students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed.

About You

We are looking for an inspirational and highly motivated teacher with Qualified Teacher Status and a strong track record of delivering consistently high-quality teaching. You will have excellent subject knowledge, a secure understanding of curriculum and assessment requirements, and a clear commitment to raising achievement for every student. Strong analytical skills, the ability to use data to inform teaching and learning, and a passion for educational excellence are essential.

You will be an enthusiastic and resilient leader who can motivate both students and colleagues. With excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, you will bring a positive, proactive and collaborative approach to faculty development. Above all, you will share our commitment to high standards, continuous improvement and student success, helping to create an environment where both staff and students can thrive.
