Assistant Director of Music and Peri Teacher

Aysgarth School is proud to be seeking an Assistant Director of Music (part-time 18 hours) with additional hours as a Peripatetic Teacher, supporting the Director of Music with classroom, ensemble, choirs, accompanying, examinations and events at our thriving independent prep school. A high percentage of students learn an instrument/singing and have practice time scheduled during the school timetable to support them. An experienced team of longstanding peripatetic staff deliver around 100 lessons per week. The school has many ensembles including Senior and Junior Wind Band, Strings Group, Guitar Group, Orchestra, Chamber Ensemble, and more being established in 2026-7. The school has multiple choral groups including a well established Chapel Choir that sing harmony parts in the Church of England tradition, alongside more contemporary choral material, every week and are the leading school ensemble. Aysgarth is proud to include Liverpool Cathedral, Ripon Cathedral and Ypres Cathedral (Belgium) within its range of regular external performance venues, alongside internal events that are both formal and informal.
