The College is looking to appoint two Vocational Support Assistants, one post is full time and one post is part time (14.5 hours) working Wednesday and Friday. Both posts are 40 weeks per year.
Vocational Support Assistants support students with a range of declared needs in a variety of settings, including practical workshops and theory classes and provide one-to-one support out of class time.
The successful candidate will be required to work in the heart of the curriculum to provide high-quality support which incorporates appropriate reasonable adjustments. Support students to practice study skills such as note taking, planning and organisational skills so that they can then do those more independently. Work with students and relevant others to understand behaviours that challenge and embed suitable education interventions to enable positive behaviour change.
Experience of supporting a diverse range of students in either secondary or further education is desirable. Holding a qualification in support teaching and learning is also desirable but not essential as the opportunity to achieve this as part of your role will be offered.
