Visiting Music Teacher - Cello

We are seeking an outstanding Visiting Music Cello Teacher to join our vibrant and successful Music Department at St Mary’s School, Cambridge from September 2026. This is a part-time position, approx. 2.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will teach cello to students across Years 1–13 at both our Junior and Senior School sites. They will work with pupils of all abilities, from beginners to advanced performers, supporting the development of strong technical and musical skills. The ability to prepare students for ABRSM (or similar) examinations, as well as GCSE and A Level performance components, is essential. Our dynamic and collaborative Music Department delivers excellent outcomes and offers a rich co-curricular programme. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced cello teacher with outstanding performing ability and a passion for inspiring young musicians. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability and a commitment to contributing to the wider musical life of the school. This is a self-employed role with individual lessons invoiced directly to parents. While the timetable initially offers approximately half a day of teaching, there is scope for the role to grow.
