Oeiras International School (OIS) is seeking a caring, creative, and inquiry‑driven Upper PYP Teacher to join our Primary Years Programme team from 21 August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator committed to nurturing young learners through play‑based, concept‑driven, and holistic approaches. Role OverviewWe are seeking a teacher to lead a class within the IB Primary Years Programme. The ideal candidate combines strong PYP expertise, especially in the upper levels, with a warm, nurturing classroom presence and a commitment to inquiry-based learning. Key ResponsibilitiesCreate a safe, welcoming, and stimulating learning environment for young children. Plan and deliver PYP‑aligned, play‑based, inquiry-driven learning experiences. Support the development of early literacy, numeracy, social‑emotional skills, and learner agency. Observe, document, and assess student learning using developmentally appropriate practices. Work collaboratively with the PYP team on planning, reflection, and whole‑school initiatives. Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Contribute to the wider school community through events, clubs, or family engagement activities. Required Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in Primary Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Teaching certification for Primary Education. Strong understanding of phonics and early literacy development, including systematic phonics instruction. Experience with the IB PYP is highly desirable; training will be offered for the right candidate. Strong understanding of child development, play‑based learning, and inquiry-led pedagogy.
