About this role

Wells Cathedral School is seeking two enthusiastic, caring, and committed Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated Learning Support team. We are currently recruiting for two rewarding roles: 1:1 Teaching Assistant – providing tailored support for an individual pupil within the classroom environment, helping them to engage fully in school life and achieve their potential. Contract: Part-time, 31 hours 15 minutes per week, until July 2027. To commence as soon as possible. General Teaching Assistant – offering wider classroom support to pupils and teachers, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Contract: Full-time, permanent, to commence in September 2026. The main duties include providing 1:1 and classroom support for pupils with SEND and supporting their learning, wellbeing and independence whilst assisting with organisation, transitions and communication. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, the SENCo and parents/carers and help prepare learning resources and monitor progress whilst providing personal care and support where required. We are looking for someone who has experience working with children or young people (ideally with SEND experience), patient, flexible and supportive, and has strong communication and teamwork skills and is committed to safeguarding and inclusion. NVQ 3 or equivalent in teaching assistance or equivalent experience is essential for this role. Please specify on your application form which role you are applying for.
