This is a role for someone who can provide calm, organised classroom support across our primary phases, delivering targeted small-group and 1:1 interventions and helping pupils access learning within a therapeutic approach. You will work primarily under the direction of class teachers and the SENCO, supporting children’s learning, wellbeing and behaviour from September 2026.
What you'll be doing
Deliver learning activities to individuals and small groups as directed by class teachers or specialists, including targeted support for pupils with SEND.
Support pupils’ personal, social and emotional needs, including first aid, hygiene and welfare tasks where required.
Work across Key Stages (EYFS–Y6) and in the Forest Room with pupils awaiting specialist provision.
Provide feedback and assessment information to teachers and contribute to planning and review meetings.
Promote positive behaviour in line with the school’s therapeutic ethos and behaviour policy.
Supervise and engage pupils during break and lunchtimes, supporting play and safety.
Prepare and clear learning spaces and assist with educational visits.
Attend relevant meetings and contribute to multi-professional discussions when requested.
What we're looking for
Essential:
Good English and Maths skills (GCSE standard or equivalent).
Experience of working with children in a learning environment (classroom, nursery or similar).
Ability to work under teacher direction and also use initiative when supervising groups.
Strong communication skills with pupils, parents and colleagues.
Reliability, good timekeeping and the ability to maintain professional relationships.
Desirable:
Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ in Children’s Care or Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
Experience in EYFS and supporting pupils with SEND.
Basic first aid knowledge.
