The Post
The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated teacher to join the highly successful Sociology and Criminology Departments. The post is available from 24 August 2026 on a permanent, full or part-time basis (57.14% to 100%). The post would equally suit an experienced or Early Careers Teacher (ECT). For ECTs, a full programme of training and development will be provided.
All new members of staff receive mentors to help them settle into the College. This post provides an exciting opportunity for those wishing to specialise in sixth form education. Candidates who have little or no experience teaching A Level Sociology or BTEC Level 3 Criminology are still encouraged to apply, as the Department are able to support those wishing to make the transition to sixth form teaching.
The Sociology Department
The Department is housed in the Priory Building in fully equipped classrooms. The team consists of five other members of teaching staff who work in a collaborative style, contributing to central teaching resources.
The Department is led by a Head of Department, supported by a Course Leader for A Level Sociology. The Department meets once a week during the College’s dedicated Meeting Slot during the College day.
The Department has an excellent record of outstanding student achievement, high quality provision and innovative curriculum development.
Students regularly progress onto university courses for Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, Teaching and Social Sciences.
