About this role
The British School, Kathmandu, is looking to recruit an outstanding teacher of secondary music to lead both curricular and extracurricular music.
You will be part of a thriving Creative and Performing Arts Faculty, and the successful candidate will be enthusiastic about collaborating with colleagues across the faculty and in primary music as well as developing music across the school. All students learn music as part of the core KS3 curriculum and through their weekly PAWS (Performing Arts Workshop) lessons. Music is offered at IGCSE and subject to interest at A level.
Extracurricular music includes a school choir, a “Battle of the Bands” club, and two secondary concerts per year. The school has close links to the British Embassy in Kathmandu, and the school choir sings at the annual embassy Remembrance Day and the Christmas carol services.
As well as being part of your academic faculty team, all teachers are members of a Key Stage pastoral team and will be mentor (tutor) to a small group of up to 12 students. Mentors meet with their mentor group at the start of each day for a 25-minute structured mentor programme, as well as teach a weekly PSHE lesson.
Educational trips and residential visits form a key part of our curriculum. All teaching staff take part in the annual school expedition, during which each year group takes part in a week-long adventure or service expedition.
