About this role

Bedales School is a unique educational establishment, set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Our aim is to create an environment where questioning, critical thinking and freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. Central to our success is the sense that each person is a member of our community whose voice is entitled to be heard and treated with respect. Both our staff and students expect of each other the best kind of relationships – co-operative, authentic and trustful. We are seeking an experienced part-time teacher who is passionate about Politics and can teach A Level for the academic year 2026/2027. We follow the Edexcel course because of its international flavour. Politics is a popular A Level choice at Bedales and builds from our bespoke courses at KS4 in Global Perspectives and Geography. The Politics department is part of the Humanities Faculty which also includes History, Geography, Global Perspectives, Philosophy Religion & Ethics, and Economics & Business. Experience & Background An outstanding classroom practitioner, you will have a good degree in Politics or similar subject and have experience teaching it to A Level. Experience of working in a boarding school is useful but not necessary. Timetable You will be timetabled to teach between 8 and 16 35-minute lessons a week depending on your availability. (Full time teachers teach 32 periods each week.) Learning takes place throughout the day and encompasses tutoring, co-curricular activities, and support and extension sessions as well as subject lessons. Most core curriculum commitments for students are scheduled from 09:00 hrs to 17:30 hrs on Monday to Friday, and until 12:50 hrs on Saturday. The days for this post are to be negotiated according to your availability and will be discussed at interview stage. Students also have access to optional activities before and after the main school day. Typically, students do not have core curriculum lessons scheduled on Wednesday afternoons. T
