Teacher of Philosophy/PRE

Please note: This is a fixed-term, part-time position of 13 hours per week, with the contract ending in August 2027

Jon Avanti House Secondary School as a Teacher of Philosophy/PRE and help shape young people who are confident in exploring ideas, questioning thoughtfully and understanding the diverse beliefs and perspectives that shape our world.

What will you do?

• Plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive Philosophy/PRE teaching that challenges and inspires pupils while building on their prior knowledge, needs and abilities.
• Monitor and assess pupils’ progress, providing effective feedback and using relevant data to support attainment and set ambitious learning goals.
• Establish a safe, respectful and purposeful learning environment, maintaining high expectations for behaviour and safeguarding the welfare of all pupils.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external partners to support pupils’ academic progress, wellbeing and wider development, while contributing positively to the life and ethos of the school.
• Reflect on and develop professional practice through collaboration, training and continuous professional development, in line with the Teacher Standards and school expectations.

What are we looking for?

• Qualified to bachelor’s degree level in relevant or allied subject
• QTS qualified
• Able to self-start, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team- whether led or leading
• Clear vision and understanding of how to implement and sustain a high-quality teaching and learning
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to delegate
• Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
