About this role
Hymers College is seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Music. This is a full-time maternity cover role, potentially until July 2027. It is essential that the successful candidate will be able to teach academic music to GCSE level. Equally important will be the enthusiasm and expertise to contribute fully to the school’s flourishing co-curricular music programme. The role would suit an experienced teacher with a proven record of academic success, or a stand-out recently qualified teacher. In either case, strong support will be provided through the Senior Leadership Team to ensure a successful period of employment.
Education and Experience
You should have a university degree in Music or a Music-related discipline, either with, or working towards, a recognised post-graduate teaching qualification. There will be strong support available for the Continuing Professional Development of an outstanding teacher, or a stand-out recently qualified teacher.
Personal Qualities and Skills
You will possess the ability to relate effectively to your pupils.
You will show a willingness to contribute to other areas of school life and may be asked to undertake a Form Tutor role.
You will be prepared to be flexible in your approach, and willing to adjust to change and development.
You will demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
You will have highly effective communication skills for dealing with pupils, colleagues, support staff and parents. Strong ICT skills are also a requirement.
You will have high levels of enthusiasm, energy and drive and the ability to work as part of a team.
