About this role

The Teacher of Mathematics will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching with the aim of helping students master the key concepts of Mathematics and use them to interpret the world around them. The Teacher of Mathematics must be able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and communicate this in an enthusiastic and clear way. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the routine and extra-curricular life of the school, as well as that of the department. Notably, the successful applicant would be expected to be able to teach Further Mathematics at A-Level, as well as support our most able pupils with the UKMT Maths Olympiads. A balanced Maths programme, incorporating and extending beyond most of the features of the KS3 National Curriculum, is taught to pupils in Year 7 and 8. Pupils then begin following the Edexcel IGCSE course from the beginning of Year 9. A large proportion of the cohort that progress to the Sixth Form take A-Level Maths – we generally have 4 Maths classes and 2 Further Maths classes in each year, which means there is plenty of opportunity for A-Level teaching. The person appointed will join an exciting and successful Department and will make a full range of contributions to the life of the school. There is a firm focus upon providing high quality teaching and learning within the department, and the successful candidate will have the ability to share their curiosity about how the world around us works and their enthusiasm for Mathematics.
