This is a role for a classroom teacher who will plan and deliver high-quality IT and Business lessons across KS3–KS4, build engaging resources, and contribute to a collaborative department that supports Early Career Teachers and teaching assistants. You will join a smaller, community-focused secondary where new facilities, close pupil relationships and clear professional development pathways mean your day-to-day teaching and curriculum work can have a visible impact.
What you'll be doing
Plan and teach well-structured lessons in IT and Business to mixed-ability classes across KS3 and KS4, preparing students for external qualifications.
Use assessment and data to monitor progress, set targets and adapt schemes of work to meet learners’ needs.
Mark and give constructive feedback, keep accurate records and communicate progress to parents and carers.
Develop new curriculum materials and use a range of resources including digital tools, podcasts and interactive whiteboards.
Manage classroom behaviour consistently and promote a safe learning environment.
Support colleagues by supervising and mentoring teaching assistants, trainee teachers and ECTs where required.
Contribute to extracurricular activities, trips and department meetings and participate in whole-school CPD and appraisal.
What we're looking for
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree relevant to IT/Business.
Successful experience teaching IT across KS3–KS4 with good or outstanding outcomes, or strong observations in the case of an NQT/ECT.
Strong classroom practice with effective use of ICT, assessment and behaviour management.
Able to use data to inform planning, excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
Commitment to safeguarding, equality and maintaining confidentiality.
