The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and hardworking teacher to join the History Department and the Classics and Philosophy Department. The post is available on a permanent, full-time basis from 24 August 2026. The post would equally suit an experienced or Early Careers Teacher (ECT). For ECTs, a full programme of training and development will be provided.
All new members of staff receive mentors to help them settle into the College. This post provides an exciting opportunity for those wishing to specialise in sixth form education. Candidates who have little or no experience teaching A Level History or A Level Classical Civilisation are still encouraged to apply, as the Department are able to support those wishing to make the transition to sixth form teaching.
The History Department
The Department is housed in the Visual Arts Building in modern, fully equipped classrooms. The team consists of five other teachers who work in a collaborative style, contributing to central teaching resources.
The Department is led by a Head of Department, supported by a Course Leader for History (Early Modern). The Department meet once a week during the College’s dedicated Meeting Slot during the College day.
The Department has an excellent record of outstanding student achievement, high quality provision and innovative curriculum development. Students regularly progress onto university courses for History, Classics, Politics, Journalism, Archaeology, Law and Teaching.
The Classics and Philosophy Department
The is located in the Langham Building in fully equipped classrooms with access to IT. The team consists of five other
