The Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of French to join our thriving Modern Languages Faculty at Glenalmond College. The successful candidate will be passionate about language and culture and committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning across a range of abilities and age groups, including CIE IGCSE, AQA A-level, and SQA Higher. They will inspire pupils to build strong linguistic skills and cultural knowledge, while fostering a genuine enthusiasm for language learning. The successful candidate must be registered or eligible to register with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) to teach French.

Reports to: Faculty Head of Modern Languages
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging lessons in French, including CIE IGCSE, AQA A-level, and SQA Higher.
Support pupils in building the linguistic skills and cultural knowledge essential for strong attainment in Modern Languages courses.
Assess, record, and report on the progress and attainment of pupils in accordance with Faculty and school policies.
Contribute to the continued development of schemes of work, resources, and teaching strategies within the Modern Languages context.
Maintain high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Participate fully in departmental and Faculty meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development opportunities.
Contribute to the wider life of the school through involvement in enrichment activities, language clubs, cultural events, and overseas trips.
Engage in continual professional reflection to enhance teaching practice and support departmental improvement.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience
A good honours degree in French, or a closely related discipline.
Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or equivalent).
Current registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotla
