About this role

Tes is supporting the appointment of a Teacher of Food and Nutrition to join a school based in Northamptonshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational teacher of Food and Nutrition to play an important part in a creative, ambitious and supportive girls’ school as part of their popular Food and Nutrition department. You will plan and deliver engaging practical and theory lessons across Years 7 to 11, encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and a genuine love of Food and Nutrition. The department benefits from a well-equipped Food room with 18 stations and recently updated furniture and equipment, alongside opportunities to work creatively with technology, Google Classroom and the school’s wider teaching and learning innovation programme. Beyond the classroom, you will help shape schemes of work, support exam preparation and NEA work, contribute to trips and visits such as Borough Market and the BBC Good Food Show, and play a part in the department’s extracurricular provision, including clubs, clinics and collaboration with the Junior School. The ideal candidate will be able to teach Food Preparation and Nutrition to at least GCSE level and will bring secure subject knowledge, strong classroom practice and the ability to use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all pupils. You will be organised, confident with IT, able to communicate well with pupils, parents and colleagues, and committed to safeguarding, professional development and the wider life of the school. QTS, or a willingness to gain it within a reasonable period, is essential. Experience of contributing to extracurricular clubs or teaching within the wider Creative Arts curriculum would be an advantage.
