Your new school
Ripplevale School and College, is a thriving independent special school, for 170 students aged 6 to 25 years old, located in the historic town of Rochester. As part of the Ripplevale family of schools, we provide a holistic, child centred approach to meeting the needs of our students, most of whom have an Education and Health Care Plan. Identified needs may include ASC, dyslexia, speech, language and communication difficulties, DCD, sensory, and high levels of anxiety.
Your new role
As a Teacher of English, you will deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that motivate and challenge students across a range of key stages. You will play a key role in developing students’ literacy skills, analytical thinking, and confidence in both written and verbal communication.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering engaging English lessons aligned with the national curriculum
Teaching a broad range of texts, including literature, language, and creative writing
Assessing, tracking, and supporting student progress to ensure strong outcomes
Creating a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and achievement
Contributing to departmental development and whole-school initiatives
Supporting extracurricular opportunities such as reading clubs, drama, or writing enrichment activities
What you’ll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you will be a motivated and passionate English teacher with a commitment to student success and high standards of teaching.
You will ideally have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
A degree in English or a related subject
Experience teaching English at secondary level (including ECTs/NQTs encouraged to apply)
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage learners of all abilities
A proactive, reflective approach to teaching and professional development
