The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of English as Additional Language (EAL) to support students whose primary language is not English. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive environment that fosters language acquisition, academic success, and cultural integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and Delivery
Design and implement engaging EAL lessons that are differentiated to support students with varying levels of English proficiency to acquire a high levels of academic English proficiency.
Utitilise a range of teaching methods and educational technology to support language acquisition, including multimedia, collaborative projects, and individual work.
Assessment and Monitoring
Conduct baseline assessments of students’ English language proficiency upon entry.
Monitor progress through formative assessments and adapt instruction accordingly.
Re-assess students at the end of each term to evaluate progress and inform future instruction.
Provide detailed reports to parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
Collaboration and Support
Work closely with classroom teachers to provide targeted language support for EAL students across different subject areas.
Develop resources and strategies to assist mainstream teachers in differentiating their lessons for EAL learners.
Engage with parents to ensure they are informed of their child’s progress and provide suggestions for supporting language development at home.
